inspiration
Our founder, Tara Singh, first qualified for the Scripps National Spelling Bee when she was seven years old in 2013. Tara's love of words led her back to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. These experiences inspired her to discover and learn more words.
Along the way, she started an etymology blog to share her love of the English language with a global audience. Her blog has been visited by people in over 100 countries, showing the universal desire to learn English through etymology, the study of word origins.
Under the auspices of the Davidson Insitute for Talent Development, Tara founded the Bluegrass Literacy Project in 2018 to continue sharing her love of the English language and etymology. Through this organization, she hopes to make a positive impact in her community.
